An emoji may can help change the tone of written communication! It can also help boost the engagement rates of your Instagram posts as proven by many studies.

Many of you may be familiar with adding emojis using your phone keyboards but unfamiliar with the process of adding them on a desktop.

If you are using a Mac, you can use the keyboard shortcut ‘Command + Control + Spacebar’ to get your emoji keyboard to appear. If you are using a PC, you will need to use the keyboard shortcut ‘Windows + ; (semi-colon)’.

It is a well known fact that the colour blue is the most popular colour in the world. The reasons behind this however are not often as well known.⁣⁣

Research conducted by psychologists Stephen E. Palmer and Karen Schloss, over a seven year period, showed that a person’s preference for a given colour can be determined by averaging out how much that person likes all of the objects they associate with that colour. Your inclination for orange, for example, depends on how you feel about carrots, traffic cones and Cheetos, among other things. ⁣⁣

Schloss pointed out that the things associated with the colour blue are mostly positive. The sky and the ocean are two things that are often associated with the colour blue universally and both of these things are generally perceived as positive. ⁣⁣

With this in mind, it makes sense that ‘Classic Blue’ won the 2020 Pantone Colour of the Year award! 💙
